Shout Out to Longtime Reach Out and Read Colorado Champion, Jennifer Yates, in Las Animas & Huerfano Counties
This month, we would like to highlight the incredible work of Jennifer Yates at five Reach Out and Read sites across Las Animas and Huerfano counties in Southern Colorado.
During Jennifer’s 10 years as a Reach Out and Read Colorado Site Coordinator, over 7,700 brand new books have been prescribed during well-child visits. Jennifer has helped create literacy corners in several clinics, ensuring that children of all ages are able to take gently used books home with them whenever they visit the clinic. The clinic staff love seeing families take books home. They even have kids asking for books before they go in to see the provider! Jennifer also promotes Reach Out and Read Colorado in many different organizations across the region that support early learning, family support, and education.
Thanks to Jennifer’s efforts, Reach Out and Read Colorado has made a tremendous impact in this part of Southern Colorado!
