The Reach Out and Read program is now active in 22 Kaiser Permanente pediatric clinics in Colorado, with clinics in Greeley, Ft. Collins, and Loveland, all the way down to Castle Rock, Parker, and Colorado Springs! With our 13 new Kaiser clinics, our anticipated annual impact will increase by nearly 9,000 well-child visits this year.
Over the past few months, Providers and Site Coordinators at these new Kaiser clinics completed their required Reach Out and Read trainings, received their welcome boxes, and began developing systems for storing, distributing, and tracking books.
“Our pediatricians LOVE books and we love teaching kids and families about the importance of literacy. Reach Out and Read is one of the best parts of our day. There are so many reasons this program has made a difference to my patients!”
– KAISER PROVIDER –
Kaiser Permanente (as a health system) has been a Reach Out and Read Colorado partner since 2017, and their providers have collectively prescribed 101,777 books paired with literacy guidance during well-child visits since.
We are so excited to expand to an entire health system, and we look forward to seeing and hearing about the impact that the Reach Out and Read program has within each of these new clinics!
“As a parent, I can’t emphasize enough the profound impact that reading has had on my child’s development. From the moment we introduced books into our daily routine, I witnessed a transformation in their curiosity, imagination, and empathy. But it’s not just the adventures within the pages that have enriched my child’s life.
Reading has also helped them develop crucial cognitive skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and language proficiency. Moreover, reading has been instrumental in nurturing my child’s empathy and understanding of the world around them. Through characters of diverse backgrounds and experiences, they’ve learned to appreciate different perspectives, cultures, and values.”
