BOOKS

Many longtime supporters will remember the poems that Bob Kapelke wrote and read at the Benefit Breakfast for many years.

In a tip of the hat to that tradition, Dr. Mary Zavadil, practicing pediatrician and Reach Out and Read Colorado board member, wrote a special poem for Dr. Vogler. They were in residency together and have been friends for over 30 years.

We are excited to offer a new program enhancement which will allow us to begin serving our communities’ most vulnerable children from day one.

Reach Out and Read Colorado
is going Back to Birth!

Back To Birth will add 3 additional books at the 1-week, 2-month, and 4-month well-child visits, effectively doubling the impact of Reach Out and Read in the first year of life.

The program will be introduced to more than 8,500 infants in Denver Health clinics by the end of this year, in honor of our founder Dr. Steve Vogler. We will strategically expand this enhancement statewide, ultimately investing an additional $500,000 a year in our youngest children.

“One of the very first conversations Steve and I ever had was about offering books at birth. There is no better way to honor his commitment, dedication, and love for this program!”

SARA WATSON, DENVER HEALTH
