Our friends at Walsh Medical Clinic have done an incredible job creating an amazing literacy-rich waiting room and continuing to promote early literacy in their community.
Walsh Medical Clinic has been a Reach Out and Read Colorado partner since June 2011 and serves Colorado families in the Southeastern corner of the state. The town of Walsh, located in Baca County, has 528 residents and Walsh Medical Clinic. The clinic prescribes nearly 100 Reach Out and Read Colorado books each year.
Providers, Kim Tate, APRN & Jenna Gerber, FNP-BC, were both raised in Walsh, Colorado. And, both were recently featured in the 2015 Reach Out and Read Colorado Annual Report, stating:
“We prescribe books because it inspires young minds to explore the world & learn every day. Reading opens endless possibilities now & throughout life. We enjoy seeing the smiles on the child’s face as well as observing Mom’s excitement to share a new story. Older siblings are unexpectedly thrilled to also receive a new book & often start reading them right away.”
Keep up the excellent work Kim and Jenna! Your dedication to our mission is inspiring.
