Today, September 22, we happily celebrate Ann Logan day! Ann received the Minoru Yasui Community Volunteer Award this evening for promoting early literacy to the highest need families and our youngest children. At the awards ceremony Ann was presented with a Mayoral Proclamation exclaiming September 22 is Ann Logan day in Denver, Colorado.
In the early 1990’s Ann, in partnership with Dr. Steve Vogler and other community members, created Reach Out and Read Colorado. Ann recognized the importance of the Reach Out and Read program, dedicating untold number of volunteer hours to establishing our organization, bringing the program to the community and securing funding. Ann served on our board of directors for many, many years and does so still as an emeritus member. She serves in leadership roles for strategic
Ann’s passion and dedication to children, literacy and the community are inspiring. While Ann has and continues to make a lasting mark on Reach Out and Read Colorado, we are not the only beneficiary of her time. She serves or has served on the board of Clayton Early Learning, Summer Scholars and Denver School of the Arts Friends Foundation. For every board or committee on which Ann serves she does not simply show up to a meeting. She is active between meetings trying to build connections between organizations, understand the real needs of the clients and raise funds for the good work being done.
Ann is a true unsung hero for Denver’s children and families. Happy Ann Logan day!
