"When I talk with parents about preparing their child for success in school, they listen very carefully. This is something that they know they need advice on. Many of our parents have not finished high school, and some have not finished elementary levels. They are relieved that they can 'read' books just by telling a story about the pictures. They can own their responsibility to read to their kids every day. Their parents never did this, but they universally embrace the chance to crack the door to opportunity a little wider open for their children. I feel great satisfaction in helping them to help their children. Everyone’s confidence goes up: the parents’, the child’s, and even mine."
