April 13th, 2007 Generous Donation by Monarch K-8 School
People's Clinic in Boulder and Clinica Campesina in Lafayette were the beneficiaries of a unique event organized by the PTA of Monarch K-8 School in Longmont. Each year the school has a Read-A-Thon. This year, to celebrate the school's 10th anniversary, the First Annual Domino Book Run was held. The students at Monarch, with the help of the PTA collected new and gently used books. The Read-A-Thon winners selected the organization to receive the books. Reach Out and Read Colorado was one of the chosen organizations. The donated books were set up in a domino-style run in the gym on April 13th.
Prior to the event the top readers will be selecting which charity to give the books to after the event.
